The terraformation.





In some models, future overpopulation is handled by terraforming Mars and Venus. The problem with Mars's terraformation is its thin atmosphere. There must be enough gas that colonists can breathe it. The atmosphere must be thick enough that it can protect astronauts. Another thing is that the low gravity causes the atmosphere to escape to space. 


So Venus is a more suitable object for terraformation. 


But the main problem is that the day on Venus is very long. The day on Venus is longer than a year. That is one of the reasons why Venus is turning into hot hell. So that's why. There must be some kind of solar shield that protects Venus from sunlight. Or terraformation will not work. 

Terraformation means that the microbes will be used to transform Venus' atmosphere similar to Earth. There is the possibility that in the future, engineers can also create filter platforms whose purpose is to separate the carbon from oxygen in that hostile atmosphere. Those systems also deliver bacteria into Venus' clouds that can destroy sulfur acid. 

Those systems can also use acoustic and electromagnetic systems to destroy poisonous molecules, and finally, Venus will be terraformed. That means the planet will turn similar to Earth. But in real life. That requires lots of more advanced technology. The main problem with Venus's terraformation is the planet's slow rotation. There must be solar shield-like satellites that cover the planet from the sunlight. 

The giant ring can used for that purpose. The ring can be an artificial asteroid belt. Or it can be like extremely long strings that can filter the sunlight. In some models, a large group of umbrella-looking satellites can used in that role.

Giant greenhouses can be a more realistic way to terraform Mars and asteroids. 

In some models, the moon or some asteroid can terraformed. The terraformation of the moon or asteroid means. That the entire dwarf planer will covered by the greenhouse. That greenhouse can be the carbonite glass or "artificial diamond" layer that covers the entire surface. And people can live under that glass layer in very weak gravity.  

When futurists talk about the asteroid belt and its exploitation, the bases will made into the largest asteroids. The terraforming asteroid can made by covering it with a glass layer. That layer protects the crew against radiation. The electric generators can used to create the artificial magnetic field to that asteroid. 

Mars will not terraformed in those scenarios. But the Mars base will be like a giant greenhouse. The crew lives in those greenhouses where the pressure is comfortable, and colonists can grow food. That thing is a more modest and realistic model than the terraformation of the entire planet. 

Greenhouses that protect crew from heat and sunlight can also work on Venus. The base would be at Venus mountain areas. The life support system pulls the carbon dioxide from the lowlands to the base. During that process, the carbon dioxide travels through filters that remove carbon from oxygen. The gas flow can also rotate turbogenerators. Venus's atmosphere is different than Earth's. It's extremely thick. And that makes it possible to use the pressure as an energy source. But things like energy satellites can solve the energy problem. In the daytime, the solar panels can give energy.

Reseachers hunt alien terraforming. 


Aliens are fascinating things. There are no official contacts with alien civilizations. However, there are many hypotheses about what SETI should search for. And one of the things is terraformed planets. 

We can think about the possibility. That hypothetical aliens traveling across the universe with giant spaceships that travel 25-50% of the speed of light. Those so-called millennium crafts can travel between stars for centuries or even millenniums. 

First, the probes search for suitable solar systems and suitable planets for terraformation. Planet terraformation can be more suitable for colonies than the natural planets because that eliminates the existence of dangerous parasites. 

In some models, aliens can use two crafts in that operation. The first one is the AI-controlled robot that uses the terraformation. And then. After that, the alien colonists can follow the first craft. The manned craft follows the first craft after centuries or millenniums. The colonists can travel as the embryos. Or their aging could stopped using advanced bio- and nanotechnology. 

The cryonics froze their crew in a temperature that is near 0 K and could stop aging. And then AI-controlled systems wake the passengers near destiny. In some scenarios, part of the crew is awake, and their aging stopped using the nanotechnology that fixes damaged DNA. Those crew members also protect the embryos that grow into colonists.
